You can always choose a new thought


You are powerful. Your ability to create and focus your attention and energy is phenomenal. 

And I really mean that. You can create phenomena. 

Just simply by visualizing an outcome, it can occur. 
That focus, on what you want, begins shifting energy within you. 

When the energy shifts, everything else can too. I would venture to say that nothing material can shift until the energy shifts first. 

Shifting energy is as simple as shifting your point of focus. Choosing to focus on a positive intention, looking for a solution, noticing how things are getting better, all of this brings a powerful energy forward. This shift in the energetic tone that fills up your bubble, your aura, begins the heavy work of shifting your experience. 

Since matter is slower and heavier than thought, it has more inertia to it. 

Thoughts and energy materializes instantly, but matter takes longer. This is really good. It means that we don’t need to fear the instant outcome of our negative thoughts. But it does kick up the heat around developing mental discipline over which thoughts are worth having. 

Another factor working in our favour is that positive thoughts are far, far stronger than negative ones. This is why only a brief time spent affirming a positive statement has such huge effects, even if our normal mental tone is quite dismal. 

Choosing a positive thought is also fully within our power. We can override the negative self talk by deliberately ignoring it and replacing it with its opposite. Even a tiny nudge can begin the process of shifting the energy and then the matter. Positivity creates movement. 

When things start moving, anything is possible.

Why I Read the Book

I first encountered the concept that different parts of the body are connected emotional states from my reflexologist in 2004. It was a revelation. When she told me about the different emotions that could be released when you activate each organ through the reflexes, everything within me zinged. There was a truth there that resonated with me.

Shortly afterwards I found You Can Heal Your Life in a second-hand bookstore. It popped off the shelf and I saw, as I flipped to the back, the list of body conditions, the mental patterns that created them, and the affirmation that works like a mental antidote to the poison of unhelpful thoughts. In addition, the book also covers, work, finances, and relationships as well and how you can improve every area of your life with a change in your thinking.

Yes! Just what I was looking for and exactly when I needed it.

What I got from it Personally – The Book in Action

I immediately put the book and its exercises and affirmations to work. I saw immediate results. I still use it regularly today and it is a textbook in our Reiki courses. By using affirmations, I can honestly say that my whole life has changed. I no longer see myself as a hapless victim of circumstance but as a powerful component of my own health and well-being. I have stopped migraines in their tracks with a simple shift in thinking. I have eased 90% of my allergy and asthma symptoms. I have acknowledged that my thoughts powerfully affect my body as well as my life.

This book powerfully shifted my entire way of thinking about health. If a simple thought could shift a physical condition, then what else could it shift? Everything, as it turns out. There is really no upper limit on the good that comes from a shift in thoughts. One of the biggest benefits is that you end up thinking differently!

Even if you are not convinced about the whole mind-body connection (although where does your brain live, if not in your body?), thinking a better thought is absolutely a huge improvement in your quality of life. There is a big difference between hope and despair. With practice, we can choose our thoughts to be hopeful and joyous.

With the help of this book, I am no longer a slave to my thinking. I learned to train my thoughts to ones that support me and I no longer give energy to thoughts that do not support me. It really has healed my life.

Signs of Spring


Signs of Spring is a process I use to enhance my trust in the Universe. I developed as a part of my book, Secret Art of Happiness: Change your Life with the Reiki Ideals. It really works. Just a tiny bit of positive attention to the things that are working in your life, means that the machinery of the Universe is free to help you.

I call it Signs of Spring because I live in a part of the world where the winters are long. Dark days and cold nights for months can sometimes make you forget that summer is possible. We have these seasons within us as well. The winters of our lives can be hard. They can be lonely. They are bare and cold periods where nothing seems right and nothing seems to be going your way. Nothing works and everything seems frozen with no clear path ahead. You can sometimes lose faith that summer will ever come. But just as with the seasons, summer always comes. Always. Every year. Guaranteed.

It is the same for you. Hard times are replaced by easy times. Or at least easier times. It is the cyclical nature of life. We encounter a challenge, we learn, we grow, and we return to happiness, if even for a moment. The point of this exercise is to extend those times of ease and happiness, and to increase their volume. To begin looking for tiny signs that the winter is leaving and that joy, peace, love and abundance are indeed here and getting bigger everyday.

Signs of Spring are little indications that things are shifting in your life. It is looking for the first signs of warmth, of spring, of tiny seeds germinating in the soil and pushing their way up through the ground. It is the buds on the trees getting fatter and the birds returning. It is a slightly longer day and a beam of sunlight through dark clouds. It is melting and a hush in the air in the pause between dusk and dawn. It is the soft mossy scents of earth returning to its fullness, a stretch, long and delicious and slow after a long slumber. It is waking and rising and returning to what is soft and good and new. It is a softness in the heart. It is a smile from a stranger. It is having the door held for you. It is a small tiny gesture that the Universe has heard you and summer is on its way.

Get a nice little journal or notepad that you can keep near you throughout your day. Keep it with you, in your pocket, in your purse, in your car, by your bedside table, wherever you will remember it and have it close. At least once a day, write down your Signs of Spring.

Write down a list every day of these small ways that things are getting better. Write down all your successes. Write down the tiniest detail as a symbol that your request to the Universe has been heard.

If you are wanting more abundance, it could be finding a penny on the street, or a friend buying your coffee, or even an improved feeling in your heart.

If you are looking for romance, it could be a smile from a passerby, it could be feeling good about yourself, it could be an increase in synchronicity, or reconnecting with old friends.

If you are wanting a better job or more fulfilling work, it could be an unexpected phone call from a co-worker, or someone asking you what your dream job is, or a colleague being friendly.

If you are wanting more happiness or improved mood, it could be a chuckle you had when talking to a friend, or waking up to bird song, or watching a beautiful sunset, or playing with your pets, children, or other lighthearted beings.

Write down all the ways, tiny and grand that the changes you desire are indeed occurring.

Nurture these tiny sprouts by noticing them and appreciating them when they happen. When you do this, you not only begin to feel better about where you are right now, but you also begin shifting, through Law of Attraction, the vibration that you are sending to the Universe. You then begin to powerfully attract more of what is wanted in your life and less of unwanted.

A tiny bit of appreciation goes a very long way toward improving your mood and creating a new life.

A drop of gratitude nets the ocean


Affirmations are powerful. They are palpable vibrations that immediately begin shifting matter.

Speak them aloud and you actually create form. Sound waves compressing and decompressing the air in front of your lips. The vibrations of vocal cords, nasal cavities, and even bone and brain. This is profound sound healing.

Letting go of Anger Affirmation Ladder

Letting go of anger is a process. It is difficult when we are overwhelmed with emotion to jump right to a positive, happy thought. Peace may feel light years away.

With the Affirmation Ladder process I created, you do not need to get to peace all in one step. Each affirmation is designed to acknowledge the truth of where you are and yet nudge you upward to a better and better place. Over time, you develop the instinct to reach for the affirmation to pull you out of anger than stay mired in an potentially destructive emotion.

The process is simple. Rate the level of anger you have in your body right now. On a scale from zero to ten. Ten being blind rage and zero being peace and contentment. Then you look up the affirmation for your level.

If you are at an anger level of 7, then the affirmation is: “All my emotions are wise teachers. I accept them as the lessons they are. Clarity is all around me.”

Gradually, anger is eased and its natural replacement, peace, becomes the norm for you.

I am willing to change: The transformative power of a simple statement


I had the recent joy of being attuned by my Master level students in class. It is such a pleasure to be the receiver. This is especially sweet since I spend so much of my time teaching. Getting the chance to receive Reiki is bliss.

In an attunement to Reiki, a tremendous amount of ki (chi) is channeled into the receiver by the Reiki Master. It basically anchors in the energy into the body and allows the person to have instant access to Reiki. It feels amazing. It is a very profound meditative state that you enter and on the other side you are more centered, more powerful, and more peaceful.

It is funny, then, that I would start coughing in the middle of it all. Funny because the affirmation for coughing is “I am willing to change!” No cough before the attunement, no cough after. Just a bunch of change! As soon as I relaxed and was both willing to receive and to change, the cough disappeared.

Just like magic!

Or maybe more accurately, just like Reiki.

As soon as I was willing to change, I did. As soon as I was willing to receive more than I was giving, the coughing completely gone.

That is simple. That is powerful.

Even more importantly, I was able to fully receive the awesome attunements!
