Do you have an idea for something you want to make? Maybe it’s a book you’ve always wanted to write. Maybe it’s a business idea, a way to bring your work to more people. The process of staying in the flow of the work often follows the same pattern no matter what you happen to be making. In this episode, Geneva Robins shares her perspective on the creative flow.

Whether you are creating a piece of writing, art, or a business, moving from the first idea to the finished product is very similar. Getting a creative work started is often more about getting past the nerves of stepping into the unknown. It is all about staying with the idea and just beginning to sketch it out.
In the middle of a creative work is where things can get stuck for many people. You start with great gusto and then hit a snag, or a delay, or life turns you around. Doubts can creep in and you question if it is really worth it. That is when it is best to get grounded and go back to the energy that started it all.
Set aside your fears of what might happen or how people will receive the work and simply take small, little steps. Even just five minutes at a time is enough to get things moving again. Even just sitting with the work and being with it without trying to DO anything is enough. It starts tapping you back into the creative flow, and that energy can carry you through or around all obstacles.
