Try this experiment! Only a few minutes will change your life.


A little while ago I posted a couple of meditation and Reiki quizzes, where you rank your stress and happiness levels before and after meditation or a self-healing Reiki session. So cool!

The results are so neat and clear. Meditation and Reiki, even just five minutes, can completely change your state. Your stress levels drop and happiness levels go up. What is so cool is that the results are statistically significant and consistent. That is nerd speak for, this is the real deal!

In the Reiki and Meditation Science Experiment, I have people rank their stress in 30 categories of stressors, everything from losing a spouse to getting a big zit. In the experiment, you rank your stress before and after either a 5 minute meditation or a 5 minute self-healing Reiki session.

Meditation Decreases Stress

Five minutes of meditation creates a 56% drop in stress levels.

 

Reiki Decreases Stress

 

Five minutes of a guided self-healing creates a 61% drop in stress.

 

As you can imagine, when you drop stress, happiness also increases.

I created another quiz where you rank your happiness levels by using the Reiki Ideals. The Reiki Ideals are: do not anger; do not worry; be grateful; do meditation and self-care; and be kind. After a 15 minute meditation, happiness levels increased.

What is so cool about all of this is that you don’t need to have a good meditation to get these results. Often when we drag ourselves to our practice, we get huge benefits. Even though these monkey-mind, chattering thoughts, restless meditations feel like we are terrible at meditating, we often see the biggest drop in stress when we have them.

So basically, don’t worry about doing meditation well, or the correct way. You just need to do it. Just show up and the results just happen.

What I have found is that not only do stress levels drop after a few minutes of meditating or doing Reiki, the effects are long lasting and cumulative. The more you meditate, the lower your stress levels.

I am a firm believer in frequency. The more often you meditate or do Reiki and self-healing, the bigger the benefit. It all adds up. In the long run, you become happier and more resilient to stresses.

And you only need a few minutes a day to create these changes. No need to spend hours coiled in a preztel! Just sit comfortably and breathe slowly for 5 minutes with your eyes closed and you will absolutely transform your life.

Releasing Anger Meditation


Whew! Anger! It can be a tricky emotion to handle. Meditation often helps to soothe the fire of anger, but getting there when you are overwhelmed can be really difficult.

This guided meditation is specifically for times when you are angry or feeling resistance. It acknowledges and releases your feelings while helping you understand the deeper wisdom that is under the stormy surface. Using your breath is a fantastic tool for moving through anger and this meditation guides you to do just that!

Test the meditation out by rating your anger level from zero to ten, ten being the most, before and after the meditation. You may still be angry after the meditation, and that is perfectly okay, but you will likely see a decrease in the intensity of your emotions. That drop in intensity, no matter how slight, gives you a change to understand the true cause of your anger and allow you the space to determine the best next step. Anger tends to cause us to act impulsively. Taking a few moments of meditation will give you the space to make better choices even in the midst of anger.

Past Life Wisdom Meditation


This meditation is designed to access your past life wisdom. I created it after doing several past-life regressions where I only encountered the trauma and poor decisions that I had done in those lives. I thought, “If I have had all of these lives, then surely I must have wisdom in these lives that could actually help me!”.

It is true. We can have access to this wisdom now. This meditation directs you to write out your responses. You can pause the recording if you need more time to write down your impressions. The meditation is about 20 minutes long.

Meditation for Creative Expression


Meet your creative mentor and deeply access your creative and courageous potential in this guided meditation by Geneva Robins. If you have had any problems with creative blocks lately, this meditation will set you free and back on the creative train.

I’ve been using this meditation in my classes for a while now with great success. I originally wrote it so I could move through some creative blocks I was experiencing. It worked!

You can deepen your practice by spending a few minutes free-writing at the end of the meditation. Just allow you pen to sail across the page, no scribbling, no pausing, just writing.

Meditation – Writing to Your Cells


This a meditation to access the wisdom in your cells. It is part meditation and part writing exercise. Listen to the audio file in a quiet place with a pen and some paper handy. At the end of the meditation, go directly into the writing exercise by answering the following questions from the perspective of the innate wisdom of your cells. Write down these questions before you begin the meditation, or have them in a handy location.

Ask your cells:

  1. How are you protecting me?
  2. How are you teaching me to be creative?
  3. How are you teaching me to be strong?
  4. How have you made me more compassionate?
  5. How have you taught me to speak up and ask for what I need?
  6. How are you teaching me to follow my intuition?
  7. How have you taught me about connection? How have you connected me with new people, places or thoughts?
  8. How can I integrate your knowledge into my daily life to soothe your signals?

Writing to your Cells Meditation

 

Here is a transcript of the meditation:

Get comfortable.

Sit with your spine straight, your arms gently resting on your lap.

Take a deep breath in.

As the breath flows out,

Allow your shoulder blades to release down your back.

Open up the space in your chest and breathe.

Bring your awareness to your breath.

Let your attention follow your breath,

All the way in.

Through your nose,

through your airways,

and down into your lungs.

Follow your breath out.

From the bottom of your lungs,

Through your airways,

And out your nose.

Breathe slowly

Breathe gently

Allow your breath to get softer, smoother, more rhythmic

Let your inhalations match your exhalations.
Evenly

in  and out.

Gently let your breath follow the rhythms of your body.

Turn your senses inward.

Notice the rhythm of your heart.

Feel it on a subtle level.

Give thanks to your heart for its joyful tempo.

Your heart is the metronome of your life.

Listen to its quiet music now.

Feel the rhythm of your heart echo in your cells.

Listen to the song in your cells.
Listen to the harmonious chorus.

Listen to your cells on a subtle level.

Give thanks to the trillions of cells that make up your body.

Your cells joyfully follow the rhythm of your heart.

Meditation – Joyful Body


This meditation is perfect for weight loss, increasing physical performance in sports, and just generally having a nice relationship with your body. It is a guided meditation, so it is pretty easy for first time meditators. Using headphones is good for focusing and reducing external distractions. My recordings are far from studio quality, but hey, they are completely free. 🙂

Abundance Meditation


Money. It can be an all-consuming topic, whether you have a lot of it or just a little. Often we are immersed in negative or fearful thoughts about money. It seems that there is a whole branch of news media dedicated to whipping up our fears about money. Like we need any help!

Abundance, true abundance, is a state of mind.

No matter what your financial situation, if you are stressed out about money, you are lacking abundance. Since abundance is a state of mind, you can change it, just as easily as changing your mind. When we leave behind old, worn out beliefs about how much we are worth, we open up to our creative, problem-solving abilities. We see solutions and opportunities where we once saw only limitations and defeat.

Blue Ocean Meditation


If you haven’t tried meditation before, a great way to start is using a guided meditation.

Guided meditations use imagery and relaxation techniques to keep your mind busy so your body can relax and heal itself.

Other kinds of meditations, such as the repetition of mantras or silent meditation, can sometimes be difficult for beginning meditators. Guided meditation helps to train the mind and body to the feeling of meditation, making it easier to sit for longer periods and easier to use more advanced techniques.
